Rafael Nadal begins new chapter in the Dominican Republic

Tennis legend Rafael Nadal has begun a new personal and professional phase in the Dominican Republic following his official retirement from competitive tennis. The Spanish icon has settled with his wife, Mery Perelló, in a discreetly owned villa valued at approximately US$2 million within the exclusive Bahía Príncipe complex in Playa Nueva Romana. The property, acquired in 2012, now serves as the couple’s primary family retreat.

His move also aligns with expanding business interests in the country. In partnership with Meliá Hotels International, Nadal has launched the ZEL Hotels brand’s first property outside Spain in Punta Cana, a 190-room destination catering to tourists and athletes alike.

Additionally, the Rafa Nadal Tennis Academy in the Dominican Republic supports young talent and combines sports with tourism. As he steps out of the global spotlight, Nadal continues to shape his legacy through hospitality and development projects while embracing a quieter life in the Caribbean.
